Benjamin (Louis Paul) Godard (1849-1895)､フランスの作曲家。
ユダヤ人の家庭に生まれる。パリ音楽院で､和声学とヴァイオリンをヴュータンに習う。あらゆるジャンルにわたり大量に作品を残す。フルート作品ではOp.116の3曲の組曲が有名である。この｢悲愴的アダージオ｣はヴァイオリンとピアノのための6曲の作品 Op.128の第3曲にあたる。

Benjamin (Louis Paul) Godard (1849-1895), French composer. He is born into a Jewish family. He is at the Paris Conservatory and he learns harmony and violin from Vieuxtan. He leaves a large number of works across all genres. His flute work is famous for the three suites of Op.116. This "Sorrowful Adagio" is the third song of Op.128, a six-song piece for violin and piano.
