10. Mascagni (Koehler edition) Popli "Cavalleria Rusticana"
Pietro Mascagni (1863-1945) Italian opera composer / Ernesto Köhler (1849-1907) Italian-born flutist and composer. This work was published by a Russian publisher and is currently out of print. I have never seen a flute piece based on the opera "Cavalleria", so it is surprising that Ernesto Koehler is arranging it. Popli has the meaning of a collection of works, a collection of works, a medley, etc., but here it is used as a synonym for fantasy (fantasy song). In this work, Koehler connects the scenes using choruses, arias, or interludes included in Mascagni's opera "Cavalleria Rusticana" (premiered in 1890). Popli's technology depends on how to connect these naturally, reorganize them in an interesting way, and create effective music. Many opera-themed fantasies have been published, but those whose opera itself has declined are less popular. However, "Cavalleria Rusticana" is a song that has been touted at opera theaters around the world, so this song will have another chance to be replayed. |
