Heinlich Wilhelm Ernst (1814-1865) オーストリア帝国 (現在チェコ）生まれのヴァイオリン奏者及び作曲家。本書第1巻の解説参照のこと。この曲の表題 ｢Feuillet d'Album｣は多くの作曲家が小品の題名に用いるもので適切な訳語が確定されていない。ここでは｢アルバムの1ページ｣とした。同様なものに Lied ohne Wort, Chanson sans paroleの訳語｢無言歌｣などもその一つである。Feuilletとは植物の葉とか、紙のページを意味する。そのようなことから｢作曲家の体験した過去の思い出の或る情景｣という意味に捉えると理解しやすい。

The title of this song, "Feuillet d'Album," is used by many composers in the title of small pieces, and an appropriate translation has not been determined. Here, it is "1 page of the album". Similar things include his Lied ohne Wort and Chanson sans parole's translation "Songs Without Words". Feuillet means a leaf of a plant or a page of paper. From such a point, it is easy to understand if it means "a scene of the past memories that the composer experienced".
