11. Spohr Barcarolle Op. 135-1
Louis Spohr (1784-1859) German composer, violinist and conductor. He was taught by the violin from an early age and became a player in the court of Braunschweig in 1799. At this time, Kuhlau's young Braunschweig coincided with his student days, but strangely, Kuhlau did not appear in Spohr's autobiography. Meanwhile, Kuhlau's violin sonata Op. 33 is dedicated to Spohr. He became music director of Cassel from 1822 and reached his end there. He has created works of all genres, including 10 symphonies, 18 violin concertos, 36 string quartets, 9 operas, and various other chamber music. This "Barcarolle" is known as the first song of the "Six Salon Songs" of violin and piano published in 1848 and is a popular work.
