14. Grieg Love Song Op. 43-5
Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) A composer representing Norway. Born in Bergen, he studied composition and piano at the Leipzig Conservatory at the age of 15 (1853). He studied with Niels Gade in Copenhagen for three years from 1863. In 1867 he became the conductor of the Philharmonic Society of Christiania (now Oslo), and in 1877 he returned to his hometown of Bergen and devoted himself to his compositional activities. During his lifetime he was also a prominent pianist and often traveled to performances. He left many works for the piano and was also called Chopin in Scandinavia. He composed 66 pieces of piano pieces from 1867 to 1903, "Lyric Pieces", which consisted of 6 to 8 pieces and 10 volumes. |
