Cécile Louise Stéphanie Chaminade (1857-1944) is a French composer and pianist. Born in a wealthy family in Paris, she started playing the piano under the guidance of her mother. From an early age she tried to compose and was called her "little Mozart" by Bizet. At the time Conservatoire did not allow women to enter, so she studied piano in private lessons and composition under Godard, she gave her first concert at the age of 18, and she became financially independent.
